Presentation
“Notas de Población” is a biannual journal that has been published for over 50 years. Its main purpose is to promote studies on the population of Latin American and Caribbean countries, although it also accepts contributions from other regions of the world.
Published twice a year (in June and December), the journal features an interdisciplinary approach, presenting research that encompasses demography as well as its intersections with economic, social, and biological phenomena. It also includes research results, applied methodological procedures, theoretical elaborations and discussions, and analysis of public policies on population issues. A minimum of 8 articles per volume are published, each up to 10,000 words. Since issue 119, three new sections have been introduced: Event Narrative, Interview and Book Reviews. While these sections may not appear in every issue, at least one will be included regularly. From 2025, the articles will be published continuously as they are edited and finalized, with complete volumes (including all articles and additional sections) released in June and December of each year.
The pre-selection of articles is managed by the journal’s Editorial team, supported by an Editorial Committee of fifteen distinguished regional experts. All manuscripts that pass the pre-selection stage are submitted to a rigorous double-blind peer review process conducted by the journal’s dedicated and experienced panel of reviewers. In addition, the journal benefits from the esteemed editorial expertise of ECLAC's Publications and Documents Division, ensuring the high quality, both substantive and formal, of its articles.
The opinions expressed in this journal are the responsibility of the authors and may not coincide with those of the Latin American and Caribbean Demographic Center (CELADE)-Population Division of ECLAC.
