In her capacity as President of the Presiding Board of the Regional Conference on Women in Latin America and the Caribbean, the Minister of Women and Gender Equity of Chile, Mónica Zalaquett, presented the Regional Alliance for the Digitalization of Women in Latin America and the Caribbean at the side event Gender Equality in Science, Technology and Innovation: Towards an Inclusive STI Ecosystem and Connectivity for All. This event was held on May 5, 2021 within the framework of the Sixth Multi-Stakeholder Forum on Science, Technology and Innovation for the Sustainable Development Goals. In this activity, several experiences and initiatives from different regions of the world were presented to promote the full participation of women in areas related to Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) and to promote inclusive STI ecosystems.

In the context of the ECLAC-BMZ/giz Cooperation Program "Sustainable development paths for middle-income countries in the framework of the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development in Latin America and the Caribbean", a virtual workshop on emerging occupations and regulation of platform work in Costa Rica was organized on June 4th, 2020. The workshop was part of the work being carried out in Cluster 2 on digital change of the current ECLAC-BMZ/giz Cooperation Program.

El aumento de la cantidad de personas mayores se traducirá en incrementos proporcionales de las demandas sociales, económicas, políticas y culturales específicas de esta población. Esta situación debe abordarse y resolverse mediante políticas públicas que garanticen la inclusión social de estas personas, así como su calidad de vida y la protección y promoción de sus derechos.
