All people have been cared for and all need care throughout the phases of life. However, care work is mostly done by women and girls, which hinders their autonomy. Transitioning towards a care society as a horizon for sustainable recovery with gender equality will be the theme of the fifteenth Regional Conference on Women in Latin America and the Caribbean, scheduled to take place this November in Argentina.

he Division for Gender Affairs of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) participated in the III session of the Business Roundtable for Gender Equality called “Tools to integrate gender parity in the value chain”. The event was held on October 27, 2022, and was organized by the Business Alliance for Development of Costa Rica.

La III Reunión Virtual de Especialistas “Hacia la Sociedad del Cuidado en América Latina y el Caribe: el cuidado del planeta” contó con la participación de representantes de la academia, activistas feministas, de organizaciones no gubernamentales, de pueblos indígenas, del Sistema de Naciones Unidas y de gobiernos. Fue un fructífero diálogo de intercambio de ideas para avanzar desde una perspectiva multisectorial hacia un horizonte con mayor igualdad. El encuentro se realizó el 23 de marzo, de modo virtual.
